Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNO): The residents of Sheashgari Bagh in Hyderpora, Srinagar Tuesday urged the government to address the worsening drainage issue in their area, which simultaneously has added to the miseries of the commuters and locals alike.
The local residents informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the problem has persisted for a long time, with no action taken despite repeated complaints.
“The drain overflows every time it rains, flooding the road and making it difficult to walk or drive. The stagnant water has also led to hygiene issues,” said Aijaz Ahmad, a local resident.
Another resident, Zahoor, also expressed frustration over the damaged road, stating that the situation worsens during peak hours. “We have school-going children and elderly people in the neighborhood. The damaged road and waterlogging make it risky for them to step out,” he said.
Meanwhile, the locals have appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair the drainage system and restore the road. “We urge the government to intervene before the situation worsens. A proper drainage system is a basic necessity,” said another resident—(KNO)
